Chick N Roll (Holland)

Chick N Roll (Holland) Chicken wings restaurant

Overview

There’s something about Chick N Roll (Holland) that feels instantly comforting the moment you walk in. Maybe it’s the aroma of freshly fried chicken wafting through the air, or the cheerful buzz of diners who know they’ve found a local favorite worth coming back to. Tucked conveniently at 4300 Holland Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452, United States, this cozy diner-style restaurant isn’t just another fried chicken spot-it’s a place where quality meets flavor in every bite.

The first time I visited, it was a random weekday lunch. I’d heard the buzz from a few coworkers who swore by their crispy chicken tenders and house-made sauces. The place had that laid-back Southern vibe, with friendly staff and a steady stream of regulars grabbing takeout orders. After ordering their signature “Spicy Roll Combo,” I quickly understood what the fuss was about. The chicken had a perfect golden crunch outside while staying juicy inside-clearly fried fresh to order, not sitting under a heat lamp.

A big part of the appeal here is the variety. The menu strikes a balance between comfort food and creative twists. You’ll find everything from classic wings and tenders to wraps, rice bowls, and loaded fries. What stands out is how the flavors are layered-each sauce, from tangy honey mustard to smoky barbecue, has real depth. According to a 2023 survey by Statista, over 60% of Americans consider sauce variety a major factor in restaurant satisfaction, and Chick N Roll clearly takes that to heart. Their “Korean BBQ” glaze, for example, delivers a sweet heat that feels inspired yet familiar.

One of my favorite discoveries was their “Nashville Hot Roll.” It’s not just about heat; it’s about balance. The chefs here manage to pack in spice without overpowering the natural flavor of the chicken. After chatting briefly with the manager, I learned that all their chicken is marinated overnight in buttermilk-a simple but effective technique that keeps it tender and flavorful. That’s a process I’ve used myself in home cooking, and it makes all the difference.

Portion sizes are generous, too. Whether you’re eating in or ordering to-go, you get the sense they value their customers’ satisfaction. The restaurant also gets high marks for consistency. Online reviews across platforms like Yelp and Google consistently praise both the food and service, with an average rating hovering around 4.5 stars. Food critics and local bloggers have even mentioned it among the “must-try” casual spots in Virginia Beach.

But beyond the numbers and ratings, what makes this place special is its sense of community. During one visit, I noticed the staff greeting several guests by name-a small gesture that says a lot about their customer-first attitude. In a world where so many quick-service restaurants feel impersonal, this one stands out for its warmth.

Of course, no dining experience is perfect, and Chick N Roll is no exception. On weekends, it gets busy fast, and the line can stretch out the door. But most guests agree the wait is worth it. The staff handle rushes efficiently, and the kitchen never seems to cut corners on freshness.

Another noteworthy detail is how clean and well-maintained the dining area is. It’s clear that hygiene and presentation are priorities here. According to the National Restaurant Association, cleanliness ranks among the top three factors influencing customer loyalty, and this diner meets that expectation with ease.

If you’re the type who likes exploring local food gems rather than sticking to big chains, this place deserves a spot on your list. The atmosphere feels casual yet thoughtful, perfect for everything from solo lunches to family dinners. The flavors are bold but balanced, the service personal but efficient, and the value unbeatable for what you get.

From personal experience, I can say Chick N Roll captures what people love about Southern-inspired comfort food-heart, flavor, and a touch of creativity. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Virginia Beach, this restaurant at 4300 Holland Rd might just become your new go-to spot when the craving for perfectly crispy chicken hits.

Stopped by for some takeout after seeing the reviews. I wasn't disappointed, the restaurant was very nice, I liked the touch pad ordering, the Staff were so nice, and the food was great in presentation and very delicious!! They also, gave me a few extra items which was very nice. The pictures do not give the sandwiches justice and the size was amazing! I definitely will be back for more and if you're reading this, get moving, you're missing out!!

Absolutely delicious chicken! My husband and I tried this spot for the first time and we were blown away from how tasty everything was. We ordered a chicken sandwich with the beef rice bowl along with fries, wings, and croquettes. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The employees are super friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is spot on and very relaxing. They have bubble tea as well, so I tried a raspberry one and it was SO good! I absolutely recommend coming here for some fried chicken. They also have some vegetarian options as well. Can't wait to come back and try all their different food options!
